King’s College Education Department to Present Best Practices Conference in Preparation for 2014-15 School Year

As a tune up for elementary and secondary school teachers before the 2014-’15 school year, the King's College Education Department will host a "Best Practices" Conference from 9 a.m. to noon on Thursday, August 14th. The presenters will be a combination of King's Education Department faculty and educators from local schools districts and intermediate units.

Participants will chose one 50-minute session from five that are being offered per hour, for a total of three for the conference. The sessions will cover a variety of subjects, including literacy, mathematics, science, social studies, teaching strategies, technology applications, and common core initiatives.

Registration for the conference is $25 with an early bird discount of $20 if received by June 1. Registration for undergraduate students is $20.  All participants will receive a verification letter for Act 48 hours.

Titles of sessions range from “Top 10 Ways To Incorporate Technology in Literacy,” “e-Reading Fun,” and “There’s an App for That” to “The Interactive, Paperless, Parent-Friendly Classroom,” “A Three-Step Framework for Effective Classroom Use of Social Media,” and “Ideas for Engaging Students in the Classroom.”
